There were Friday evening wins in Division One of the ACL for Carrickmore, Ardboe, Strabane, Dromore and Clonoe.

Dromore gave Dungannon a lesson in ruthless finishing on Friday evening defeating last year’s Intermediate champions 1-14 to 0-2. With Ruairi Sludden, Eoin Mc Cusker and Colm Mc Cullagh pulling the strings the St Dympnas reached the break leading 0-8 to no score. The Clarkes found the going tough against their more illustrious opponents and although they managed to break their duck in the second half courtesy of points from Daniel Grimley and David Walsh they never threatened Dromore’s lead. Ruairi Sludden hit Dromore’s goal as the visitors managed to run their bench maintaining their very impressive start to the season to win by fifteen points.

Clonoe made the long run to Omagh and came away with the points following a convincing 2-15 to 1-9 win. The home side began well and reached the break leading 1-5 to 0-7 with their goal coming from Cathal Mc Carron while Conor O’Donnell hit four fine points. However the second half saw Clonoe hit form to win convincingly. County u-21 star Danny Mc Nulty finished with 2-6 of his team’s total while Stephen Mc Nulty, Dwayne Quinn, Patrick Doris and Declan Mc Clure were also among the points.

Carrickmore were on their travels again this time to Coalisland and came away with a 1-9 to 0-9 win. The teams shared ten points in the first half coming in 0-5 apiece at the break. Philip and Brian Toner were on target for the Island while Martin Penrose, Ruairi Loughran, Paul Mc Aleer, Caolan Daly and Mickey Donaghy all scored for Carmen. A goal was always going to be a key score in a close game like this and it came from former county player Mark Donnelly late in the game to seal the victory for the visitors.

Ardboe made it two wins in a row with a 2-9 to 2-7 win at Donaghmore. A brace of early goals from Michael Lynn gave the Rossas the perfect start and with Brian Mc Guigan and Kyle Coney in good form they reached the break 2-7 to 1-1 in front. Veteran forward Mark Hetherington’s early goal had given the home side hope but all they managed to add in the remainder of the first half was a 30th minute Lee Falls score.

Playing with the elements Donaghmore were much improved after the break and closed the gap to a single point with three minutes remaining. However Kyle Coney settled the nerves and the game with a converted 29th minute free that left the final score Ardboe 2-9, Donaghmore 2-7.

Strabane proved once again that they will be hard to beat at home as they accounted for Moy 0-11 to 1-6 in a hard hitting contest. Warner Mullan was in fine form for the home side scoring the first and last points of the game. In a low scoring opening half the sides finished level Strabane 0-6, Moy 1-3 with Moy’s goal coming from a disputed penalty converted by full back Niall Conlan. Second half scores from Mullen, Haydn Mc Namee and John Mc Laughlin edged the home side ahead but Moy refused to lie down and tied the scores with five minutes remaining thanks to points from Eunan Deeney and Colin Duffy. However with the light fading Strabane sealed the win and took the points following late scores from JP Gallagher and Warner Mullen.
