Rock are through to another Tyrone Junior Final after they had five points to spare over Eskra at Healy Park on Friday night.

Martin Hackett’s side went into the game as hot favourites and produced a superb first half showing with Liam Nugent and Aidan Mc Garrity in top form. Their movement and scoring ability caused Eskra all sorts of problems.

Eskra hit the first two points of the game courtesy of Shane Hackett and Niall Marlowe. The Emmetts looked lively during the opening five minutes but they were rocked back on their heels when, after a fine team move, Enda Mallon finished the ball to the net for Rock. The St Patrick’s took the lead a minute later courtesy of Aidan Mc Garrity and never looked back.

Further points from Aidan Mc Garrity, Liam Nugent and Shane Murphy extended the Rock lead before Joe Mc Carroll and Shane Hackett scored to keep Eskra in the game. With half time approaching Liam Nugent landed two fine points before Cathal Meegan pointed for Eskra to leave the half time score 1-7 to 0-5 in favour of Rock.

In spite of conceding two early second half points to the boot of Liam Nugent Eskra dominated the next twenty minutes hitting five unanswered scores to leave two between the teams. Shane Hackett (3), Joe Mc Carroll and Aaron Kelly with the points for Eskra.

With the game entering the last five minutes Liam Nugent scored to steady any Rock nerves before Mc Garrity slalomed through to stretch their team’s lead to four. Shane Hackett responded for Eskra but late points from Peter Ward and Nugent once again ensured Rock made it through to the LCC Tyrone Junior Final.

Final score : Rock 1-13, Eskra 0-11.
