Former Tyrone Minor star and ace Omagh St Endas forward Ronan O’Neill seems certain to miss the Mc Kenna Cup and the initial stages of the Creggan Under 21 tournament. The Jordanstown student picked up a knock late in his club’s under 21 County Final win over Donaghmore last Sunday and after complaining of feeling unwell at the end of the game was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry. Tests were carried out and a viral infection was diagnosed. The All Ireland Minor winner from 2010 has been advised to take a four week break from football and is expected to return to the hospital early in the new year for further tests. O’Neill, who is one of Tyrone’s brightest young prospects, is expected to make a full recovery from the infection and is hoping to return to full training after the completion of the medical investigations.
