One of Ireland’s and Kerry’s main tourist attractions is the annual Rose of Tralee competition which takes place at this time every year.

At present the entrants, who come from all over the world, are in Ireland preparing for the festival itself which takes place this weekend.

Part of the familiarisation work for the contestants involves attending events and venues aimed at promoting the competition while affording the judges an opportunity to discover something of the character of the entrants.

Prominent among those competing is the Kentucky Rose Emily Hughes daughter of former Tyrone and Killyman footballer Mickey Hughes and his wife Sheila. Emily will of course be flying the flag of the Bluegrass State but with her many Tyrone connections will be also be strongly supported by large numbers of folk from the O’Neill County.

Mickey and his family are strong and faithful followers of Tyrone GAA and like nothing more than keeping in touch and up to date with how things are going on the sporting front back home. They work hard not only maintaining their links with home but also promoting all aspects of Irish culture in and around Louisville. They are great supporters of Teamtalkmag.com and all at teamtalkmag wish Emily and the family every success when the Rose of Tralee finals take place this weekend.
