Sacred Heart Girls Undone By Letterkenny Convent

Sacred Heart College girls U16 team travelled to Letterkenny’s O` Donnnell Park to take on Loreto Convent Letterkenny.
Played in near perfect conditions Sacred Heart began well with Evangeline Johnston firing over a point inside the opening minutes. A nice inter-passing move involving Erin Gallagher, Sophie Ramsey, Louise Sloan, & Derblha Mc Donald interpassing resulted in a fine goal from Casey Mc Hugh.
That score seemed to galvanise the Donegal girls who hit three goals without reply. Evangeline Johnston then got on the end of a long pass from Rebecca Arnold and played a nice one two with Ciara Mc Dermott before finding the net.
Letterkenny once more went on the attack but strong tackling held their
forwards to a point before Johnston fired over another point from play
just before referee Gerry Mc Hugh blew for halftime.
The score at the break read Letterkenny 3-01, Sacred Heart 2-2.
Letterkenny began the second half well scoring 2-01
within the opening minutes of the second half. The Sacred Heart defenders Sara O’
Brien, Laura Lee Penrose, Coblaith Mc Kenna, Clodagh Mc Ginn, Jessica
Heaney and Bronagh Mossey were under severe pressure but battled well against the pacy Donegal forwards while Sharon Kate Mulryan showed well in goals.
From a Sharon Kate kickout Rebecca Arnold won possession, passed to Ciara Mc Dermott who sent Johnston through for a goal.
Letterkenny responded immediately with a goal before Sacred Heart then enjoyed a real purple patch hitting six unanswered points from open play from Sloan, Mc Dermott and Mc Hugh.
Two Derbhla Mc Donald frees plus another point from play left a goal between the sides but in spite of much pressure and many attempts on goal the vital score refused to come.

Final score Scared Heart College 3-08 Loreto Letterkenny 6-02.
