Drumragh are through to the quarter finals of the LCC Junior championship after a fine display saw them overcome a fancied Errigal Ciaran Thirds side at Pearse Park in Galbally on Friday evening.

The Sarsfields had the wind at their backs in the first half and after Shane Cleary and Sean Mellon had swapped early points Eamon Rea bagged a goal for the winners. Cleary and Rea tagged on points before Errigal Ciaran full forward Patrick McDermott replied with two points to leave it 1-5 to 0-4 at the break.

Two minutes into the second half Errigal midfielder Sean McKenna scored a goal after he reacted first to his penalty coming back off the bar. A McDermott free levelled matters but Drumragh then got a goal from Cleary which was followed by a point from Martin Taggart.

Substitute Paul Maguire converted a superb free for Drumragh to move five clear again. Errigal Ciaran though weren’t finished yet McKenna converting from the penalty spot. Aidan Colton and Maguire had Drumragh points and with time almost up Sarsfields keeper James Colgan denied Cahir Tierney with an outstanding save, one of three or four that he made over the course of the sixty odd minutes, as it finished 2-10 to 2-8.
