Drumragh are back in Intermediate football after they won a dramatic promotion playoff against Killeeshil at Galbally yesterday afternoon. Full back Barry Fitzgerald proved to be the toast of Drumragh with the winning score with the last kick of the game after they had recovered from a six point deficit.
Killeeshil were the better side in the first half and that was reflected on the scoreboard as they led 2-3 to 0-4 at the break. Eoin Neill palmed in their first goal with Tomas Hoy getting a brilliant second, Aaron Montgomery, Niall McCarney and Alex McGlinchey with Drumragh points.
Conor McCool stretched Killeeshil’s lead on the restart before the Sarsfields hit back. Substitutes Daniel O’Neill and Tommy Murphy both bagged goals with Hoy sending over the equaliser as extra time seemed inevitable. Drumragh though dug deep for one last attack and that man Fitzgerald fired over the priceless winner right at the end.
