SCHOOLS | Academy Out Of MacRory
Thursday 01.12.2016
St.Patricks Academy Dungannon made a disappointing exit from the MacRory Cup when they lost out to Patrician High Carrickmacross in a thrilling playoff encounter at Emyvale that required extra time to decide. Paul Donaghy’s second penalty of the day in injury time looked to have won it for the Academy but Andrew Woods sent over an equaliser to force extra time as it finished 2-15 each. In extra time the Monaghan lads were the better side and ran out 3-22 to 2-18 winners. Donaghy finished with 2-5 to his name with Eoghan Rankin [4], Mark Donnelly [2] and Oran Mallon [2] also on target but there was no doubt who the man of the match was as Carrickmacross full forward David Garland weighed in with an incredible individual haul of 2-13.
