SCHOOLS| Omagh Take Victory In MacRory Cup Opener

Omagh CBS got their MacRory Cup campaign off to a winning start with a deserved 2-11 to 0-9 win over St. Colman’s Newry.
The “Brothers” were the dominant side in the opening period and a goal from Eoin Donnelly just after twenty minutes helped the Tyrone school reach the break 1-8 to 0-6 ahead.
Having been second best for most of the first half the Newry lads enjoyed a bit more possession after the break but failed to make it count on the scoreboard.
Any chance of a Newry comeback was put to bed when Ryan Mc Cusker bagged Omagh’s second goal of the game and the Tyrone school eased to a convincing win. Cahir Goodwin, Peter Og Mc Cartan, Aidan Donaghy and TP Cunningham were among the scorers for Omagh CBS who can now look forward to a clash with St Pat’s college Cavan at the weekend.
