St Joseph’s Grammar Donaghmore claimed the Ulster Colleges Sciath na nÓg title but only after a real backs to the wall second half battle with Inishowen.
The game finished 1-7 to 1-5 with neither team registering a score when playing into the gale force wind that blew down the Killyclogher pitch.
Donaghmore had heroes all over the field as they opened up a 1-7 to no score lead in the first half with Noah Grimes and Darragh Donaghy leading the charge. In fact they could have been further ahead but they missed a couple of great chances for goals.
The second half was all about workrate and commitment as they denied their bigger, more physical opponents time on the ball. The Inishowen lads found it difficult to cope with the elements and the pressure coming from the Donaghmore defence.
Donaghmore played some superb possession football against the breeze to edge out their opponents and lift an historic first Colleges Grade A title for the school.
