The preliminary rounds of Scór na nÓg sprang into life last weekend with competitions being held in St John’s Parish Hall, Moy, St John’s B & E College, Dromore and Patrician Hall in Carrickmore.

The first two nights got off to a start with ten clubs at each venue while the third night in Carrickmore was a full house with a total of nineteen clubs taking part. Over the three nights there were many of the regular participating clubs from Tír Eoghain but also a number of clubs which had not participated in Scór for a number of years. This is to be welcomed as the overall aim of the Culture and Language committee would be to have all of the clubs in the county taking part in this very important part of our culture and heritage.

The competition at the events was exceptionally high which will bode well for the two semi finals which are due to be held in Cookstown Parochial Centre on Saturday 19th November beginning at 6.00 pm. The second semi final is to be held in the Dún Uladh Centre in Killyclogher on Sunday 20th November beginning at 5.00 pm. Both these events promise to be most entertaining nights where the best of Tír Eoghain’s young talent will be on show. Clubs will be contesting for a very limited number of places in the County Final which is to be held in St Joseph’s Hall in Omagh on 4th December starting at 3.00 pm. This will be quickly followed by the Ulster semi Final which will be held in Swatragh on Sunday 11th December.

The Ulster Final will be held in Galbally Community Centre on Saturday 14th January 2017

The All Ireland Finals of Scór na nÓg will be held in Waterfront Hall in Belfast on Saturday 11th February 2017.
