The 2015 Cultúir agus Teanga season begins at the beginning of October with this year’s Scór na nÓg competitions. Starting dates are Friday, 9th at 7.30 pm in St Patrick’s Hall Dromore, Saturday, 10th  at 5.00 pm in St John’s Parish Hall in Moy and Sunday, 11th October at 6.00 pm in St Brigid’s Parish Centre, Cookstown. The semi-finals are pencilled in for Friday 23rd October at 7.30 pm and Sunday 25th October at 5.00 pm. This year’s County Final will be held on Sunday 8th November in Killeshil Community Centre at 3.00 pm. Venues for the semi final fixtures will be notified in due course.

The Ulster set up has changed slightly for the incoming season with Ulster Semi-Finals being reduced from the traditional three to two. This will mean that one semi-final will comprise of five counties and the other four. The first of this year’s semi-finals, on Saturday 21st November at 5.00 pm, at an Armagh venue, will have the counties of Cavan, Fermanagh, Antrim, Monaghan and Armagh drawn against each other. The second Semi Final on Saturday 28th November also at 5.00 pm, hopefully at a Tyrone venue, will have the remaining four counties of Derry, Donegal, Down and Tyrone pitted against each other.

First and second placed competitors from each venue will then progress to the Ulster Final, on Saturday 12th December at 5.00 pm, at Silverbridge GAC, Armagh. This will then alter the make-up of the Ulster final with four competitors in each final instead of the previously normal three. This will increase the competitive aspect of the final as well as contribute to a much more enjoyable audience experience.

The All Ireland Final will be held in INEC, Killarney on Saturday 30th January 2016 following the traditional Scór na nÓg format of previous All Ireland Finals.

This whole Scór na nÓg experience will have a further impact on the Scór Sinsear programme for the coming season. The All Ireland final of Scór Sinsear is due to be held at the beginning of April instead of the normal end of April thus ‘squeezing’ the Scór Sinsear programme into a much shorter time span.

More details of these changes will be made known at a later date.

On the positive side the competitions will revert to the previous time scale for 2017 Scór season.
