Second Legends Piece In two Nights!!!!!
Friday 18.07.2025
Canavans was the venue and reminiscing and reflection were the order of the night as the Tyrone team of 1973 met for an evening of fun, laughter and nostalgia recalling their days of representing the Red Hand County during some difficult times on and off the field of play. Matches won and lost along the way, good times shared on the road and abroad; all were recalled and shared as the players sat down for a meal and a night to remember.
The event has been a long time in the planning and was the brainchild of ex Killyman and Tyrone star Mickey Hughes who along with Aidan Mc Mahon worked closely together to get as many of the players as possible on board. It says a lot for the character of those involved that every player who was available showed up and within minutes of them arriving the bond between them was still there.
Sadly team manager Jody O’Neill and former players Seamus Donaghy, Pat King and Mickey John Forbes have all gone to their eternal reward and one or two others were unavailable due to illness. Those however who managed to make it were delighted with the recognition and delighted to be offered the chance to catch up with old friends and former team mates.
Speeches were short and entertaining as Aidan Mc Mahon and Mickey Hughes helped keep the craic going. Among the highlights of the night was a visit from Peter Canavan and the presentation to all assembled of a personalised Louisville Slugger in Tyrone colours.
Congrats to all involved and thanks for the invitation from TTM.
