Strabane Shamrocks lifted the Tyrone Junior Hurling championship trophy in Omagh on Sunday afternoon thanks to a 3-15 to 0-14 win over Naomh Colum Cille, Things didn’t start too well for the Shamrocks who quickly found themselves seven point to nil down in the opening quarter. Naomh Colum Cille had Seamus O’Hagan, Rory O’Neill and Shea McKiver to thank for their early lead. The Shamrock struck back through a series of Gerard Gilmore frees and points from midfielders Conor Gallagher and Malachy Quigg before full forward Gary McGettigan produced a brilliant piece of stick work to scoop the ball past Eric Kirwan in the Colum Cille goals. That score seemed to galvanise Shamrocks and it a short time later Marc Devine raced through the heart of the defence to bury the ball into the net. By the half time break Shamrock were 2-7 to 0-11 ahead.

Shamrocks pushed further ahead after the break thanks to some excellent free taking from Gerard Gilmore and point scoring by Marc Devine. Further points from Seamus O’Hagan Paddy McCusker and Shea McKiver kept Naomh Colum Cille involved in the game but Ciaran O’Neill’s goal for Shamrocks ended the game as a contest and helped the men from north Tyrone to another Junior title.
