In what was a closely fought contest between two very evenly matched sides the first half produced  a very tense and tight opening thirty  minutes in which both defences were mostly well on top.

Donaghmore responded to an earlycastlewellan goal with points from Neil McElroy, Cormac Dorman, Matthew Mallon and the well double marked Daire ONeill.

The second half started really well will a goal directly from midfielder Doran. Points each from brilliant forward duo Daire ONeill and Jack McCann and points from Eamon Jordan and Stephen Toner and a wonderful individual goal from sub Conan Quinn powered Donaghmore to a ten point victory.

Kieran Carlisle and Eoin Winters were superb throughout in the heart of the defence well supported by captain Padraic Donaghy.
