Sigersons defeated Aghyaran on a wet miserable evening for football at Sigerson Park. Aghyaran got the first point of the match but Strabane responded well when star player on the night Leona Houston put the ball in the net with their first attack. The same player proved to be a real thorn in Aghyaran’s side for the remainerof the half scoring 1-3. Hollie Friel also found the net for the home side and the 1st half ended with Sigersons leading 2-3 to 0-6.
The second half began well for Aghyaran with two quick points narrowing the gap. However they suffered a blow when key player Kellie Meehan was forced to leave the field due to injury. Sigersons made the most of her absence hitting three quick goals from Leona Houston and Ciara Mc Gill.
Kellie Meehan came back on for her side and although she did her best to rally the troops a resolute and determined Sigersons defence stood firm as Laura Coyle, Morgan Mc Glynn and Eimear Mc Laughlin proved hard to get past. Sigersons finished up deserving winners on a score line of 5-7 to 1-9.
