SIGERSONS HOST 2019 YOUTH AWARDS NIGHT

On Wednesday 18th December Strabane Sigersons hosted their 2019 youth awards night in Sigersons social club.  A large crowd was present to see who picked up the much sought-after awards for their previous season. However, as chairman Liam Sweeney and Youth Officer Ciaran McLaughlin both stated that it’s not just about winning the awards but about representing their club around the county with their friends.

2019 saw our youth teams field again at every level from under 6 right up to under 18 both boys and girls. The talent we have in our club is immense and it is down to the dedication of our young players turning up to train and the coaches who offer their time voluntarily every week to ensure the best opportunity is being offered to these players.

The night started off with every player from under 6 to Under 12 receiving a selection box and certificate for their efforts throughout the year.

Well done to everyone who received their awards. They were all very difficult to select. The club looks forward to seeing everyone in the coming weeks and months preparing for the 2020 season and to all our 2019 players who are now progressing to adult football we look forward to seeing you represent the Men’s and Ladies’ teams respectively for many years.

There was also appreciation awards handed out to our youth players who represented the club with Tyrone in 2019.

Club members Desi Friel, Donna Bogle and Marty Conway were presented with appreciation awards for managing the county under 16 girls team.

Sean MacIntyre and Desi Friel were also honoured for having refereed for the club in 2019.

The under 14 girls who won the grade 3B Championship were presented with their county medals.

The night concluded with Ciaran McLaughlin paying a special tribute to our coaches this year who have once again dedicated countless hours voluntarily to the club. Without these people our club would cease to exist. We are always in need of more help and if anyone would like to contribute they should contact any club member.
