This afternoon’s Arthurs Cup quarter final between Virginia College Cavan and St Ciaran’s Baygawley finished all square 2-8 apiece following an entertaining and exciting encounter between two very talented sides. The Ballygalwey lads conceded an early penalty which was excellently saved by Conor Mc Anenley in goals.  Buoyed by this let off they gathered themselves and had four points from Nathan Grimes and a goal from Conor Kelly to put them in front twenty minutes in. The Cavan lads however refused to buckle and had the game level 1-5 to 1-5 at half time.

Both teams produced some excellent passages of play but scores were hard to come by in the second half. Virginia College hit the net early in that period to move in front but a fine Jody Mc Gloin goal put St Ciaran’s very much back on top. A late free from Enda Mc Garrity put the Tyrone lads one in front but Virginia College showed great heart to come back and tie the scores just before the end.

Final score St Ciaran’s Ballygawley 2-8, Virginia College Cavan 2-8.
