St.Ciaran’s Lose Out In Semi
Thursday 07.02.2019
St.Ciaran’s Ballygawley’s bid to reach the Danske Bank Markey Cup final came up just short at the Bawnacre in Irvinestown on Thursday afternoon when they lost out to Abbey from Donegal Town.
The winners led 0-7 to 0-3 at the break with Jamie Crawford, Shay Travers and Cain Hegarty among their points, Peadar Kane, Mark Monaghan and Joe Oguz the St.Ciaran’s marksmen. The winners hit the last four points of the half while St.Ciaran’s failed to convert a penalty in the first half when Odhran Robinson was wide from the spot.
Abbey moved five clear in the early moments of the second half before the wind assisted St.Ciaran’s hit back with a well taken Ethan Neil goal. They could never get level though despite the fact that they closed the gap to the minimum on a few occasions thanks to scores from Robinson, Ciaran Bogue and Ruairi Canavan. Hegarty had the final say from an injury time free as it finished 0-13 to 1-8.
