St Ciaran’s…. 6-7

St Comghall’s 3-4

St Ciaran’s College from Ballygawley qualified for the Ulster McDevitt Cup semis, thanks to a 6-7 to 3-4 win today at Augher over Lisnaskea St Comghall’s.

It was pretty windy at host venue Fr Hackett Park but the pitch had no problem standing up to the overhead conditions.

Jody McGlone netted three goals for St Ciaran’s, with Barry McCaffrey, Niall McGirr and Niall McElroy supplying singles.

The Ballygawley team were well ahead at half-time on 3-5 to 0-2 and always retained control despite the spirited second half efforts of the Fermanagh school.

The wind made good football difficult but St Ciaran’s in particular and also St Comghall’s tried their level best throughout the hour.

Conor Kelly and Adam Arthurs were among the players to provide St Ciaran’s points, Enda Tierney and Jason Flanagan replying with Lisnaskea scores.

St Ciaran’s now meet Monaghan or Donegal winners in the semi-final, although this might not be for a couple of weeks.
