St Endas Stage Rounders
Monday 20.10.2025

History is set to made…not for the first time by St Enda’s, when we host rounders with the intention of setting up a new team for 2026. Following some great work by the clubs health and welbeing committee to encourage the sport Arleen Ramsey, Ulster Ard Comhairle Rounders Delegate provided a fantastic coaching session to our club members recently.
After some great progress the club will be hosting its first sessions from Tuesday 4th November for four weeks at St Patrick’s Park from 7pm until 8pm.
GAA Rounders was included in the original GAA charter in 1884,alongside Gaelic football, hurling, and handball. Despite this recognition, Rounders was not actively played in clubs for several decades, although its rules were documented in An Clár Oifigiúil (The Official Guide) of the GAA.
The earliest record of rounders being played is at the modern Tailteann Games in the Ballinascreen area in the early 1900s, and that this was played in preference to football or hurling. Establishing a new club is now the focus of St Enda’s.
These sessions will be good fun but focused on getting things started. Players must be over 16 to play, this is open to both male and female club members.
