There were mixed fortunes for St.Joseph’s Donaghmore in Monday’s two Ulster Colleges Finals at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena in Cookstown. The Tyrone school won their second Danske Bank Nolan Cup title when they edged past Lumen Christi Derry on a 0-11 to 2-4 score line. With just a minute of normal time left to play St.Joseph’s trailed by two points but efforts from Colm Loughran and substitute Daire Quinn levelled matters before Loughran’s seventh point of the afternoon, from fifty metres out, gave them the silverware.

There was heartbreak for the younger lads in the final that preceded it as they lost out to Edmund Rice College Glengormley in the Danske Bank Ennis Final in an extraordinary contest that required extra time to decide. Full forward Tiarnan Drain hit 4-4 but still ended up on the losing side with Eoin Kavanagh [2-2], Conor Donaghy [1-1], Ronan Versani [1-2] and Dermot McAleer [1-0] all scoring as it finished 9-19 to 10-9!
