St Joseph’s HS from Coalisland claimed silverware in the Tyrone U-16 vocational decider this evening at Healy Park over Carrickmore’s Dean Maguirc.

Goals arrived late in the game, with St Joseph’s hitting three in the last ten minutes to rubber-stamp their success and Dean replying in added time with a consolation three-pointer(3-10 to 1-3).

Dean Maguirc started well enough but it was the Coalisland College who led 0-7 to 0-2 at half-time, Cahir Quinn and Captain Daryl McGee among their point providers.

Niall Grimes and Owen Mullan contributed points as Dean tried to gain a firmer foothold on the match. St Joseph’s, though, remained in pole position as the closing quarter approached.

Ten minutes from time came a goal that gave St Joseph’s added impetus, Cahir Quinn finding the back of the net and five minutes later Daniel Lowe beat two men before firing in goal number two.

Darren Devlin tagged on a third goal close to the 60th minute and two minutes into added time Kevin Gormley pulled a goal back for Dean who kept battling bravely right to the finish.

St Joseph’s now progress through into the Ulster Arthurs Cup competition and will probably face a game in the very near future.
