Ulster Junior Football Championship Quarter Final
Stewartstown 2-20 Teconnaught 0-5

Sometimes the scoreline doesn’t really reflect the game itself.  This wasn’t one of those occasions.  Stewartstown were full value for the 21 point gap at the end of a game that the dominated for all put a ten minute period at the start of the second half.  The fact that they created 34 scoring chances to Teconnaught’s 13 amplifies the point.

Stewartstown raced into the opening half kicking 1-8 inside the opening seventeen minutes before Teconnaught registered their first score in the 18th minute.  Dan Lowe clipped over the first two points of the game in the 3rd and 5th minute before Gareth Devlin split the posts from a. free a minute later.  That three point advantage was doubled in the seventh minute as Theo Lowe fisted a pass into the path of Macauley Quinn who palmed the ball to the net.  The Lowe’s Dan and Theo were on the scoreboard in the 9th and 11th minutes with points from play before Macauley Quinn hammered over his form point of the afternoon a minute later.

Conor Quinn popped up from corner back to fire over the Harps 7th point in the 14th minute before Dylan McElhatton added an 8th point in the 17th minute.  Teconnaght looked lie a team running on empty but they did get the next score of the game when Patrick Grant hit.a free for them with 12 minutes to go in the half.  That score energised the Stewartstown men and they finished the half with another five unanswered points, all from play from five different players.  Jason Park, Gareth Devlin, Macauley Quinn, Dan Lowe and Kyran Robinson all raising the white flag.  Half Time Score – Stewartstown 1-14 Teconnaught 0-1.

A seven minute half time great had the Down men back out on the pitch a full five minutes ahead of Stewartstown. The scoring rate understandably slowed down a little bit for Stewartstown after the break as Teconnaught attempted to get a foothold in the game.  Teconnaught regifted three of the four opening scores of the second period as Patrick Grant landed his second free and Ciaran Carville clipped over a nice point from play.  Another Conor Devlin point was followed by another point from Ciaran Carville.  Teconnaught’s Patrick Flanagan then picked up a black card and with that sin bin came the end of the mini revival.

A Dan Lowe point from a mark in the 41st minute was followed up with a Gareth Devlin point from play.  Then the score of the game in the 47th minute.  Theo Lowe and Dan Lowe linked brilliantly to find Gareth Devlin who rocketed the ball to the top right hand corner of the Teconnaught net.  Another free from Devlin was responded to with a point from Patrick Grant leaving Dan Lowe to clip over two more scores to conclude the game.  Final Score – Stewartstown 2-20 Teconnaught 0-5.
