Sunday 13.09.2026
Stewartstown made short work of Errigal 3rds in their Tyrone Junior Championship quarter final meeting at Loughmacrory on Saturday.
Errigal would have been hoping for a quick start both in defence and attack but it was the Harps who were quickest out of the blocks. Shea O’Neill hit the net for Stewartstown in virtually their first serious attack but credit to Errigal who responded with a goal of their own from veteran Davy Harte almost immediately to tie the game at 1-0 apiece.
Stewartstown added a second goal on seven minutes courtesy of Odhran Robinson and from then until the half time whistle they controlled the game. Points from Macauley Quinn and Dylan Mc Elhatton had the Harps 2-3 to 1-0 ahead and looking comfortable before Errigal centre back Tom Robinson struck his team’s first point of the game midway through the first half.
Stewartstown continued to pile forward and create chances with scores from Macauley Quinn, Shea O’Neill and a two pointer from Dylan Mc Elhatton pushing the lead out to nine points with ten minutes of the first half remaining. Credit to Errigal they battled to keep themselves in the game but their opponents championship nous and greater fitness saw them reach the break leading 2-11 to 1-1.

Playing wind assisted in the second Errigal enjoyed greater possession and further chances. Ronan Mc Rory opened the second half scoring with a point before a well worked goal from Shea O’Neill and a brace of points from Macauley Quinn had Stewartstown on top again. Dylan Mc Elhatton fired home his team’s third goal before a brief revival from Errigal yielded points from Davy Harte, Rob Harper and Ronan Mcrory.
Entering the last quarter Errigal were enjoying more possession but still found the Harps defence in uncompromising mood. The Dunmoyle lads were indebted to veteran goalkeeper John Devine who made a number of great second half saves to help keep his team in the contest. Points from Davy Harte and Aaron Neill reduced the gap but Stewartstown continued to dominate and added a fourth goal from Mc Elhatton late on. The wing back finished with 2-5 as his team recorded a comfortable 4-21 to 1-9 win.
