Strabane Darkness Into Light Event

This year’s Darkness into Light will take place on 11th of May. Since it began in Phoenix Park in Dublin in 2009, the walk has grown into a global initiative with a DIL taking place in places like New Zealand, Vancouver and San Francisco. Over 150,000 people set off in the early hours of Saturday morning last at 4.15am with thousands of people walking or running a 5km route while the dawn was breaking. Last year approximately 600 people were involved in the Strabane event.

Ciaran McLaughlin, chair of the Strabane DIL Committee commented: “Due to the increasing popularity of this event we are urging people who wish to participate this year to REGISTER ONLINE before 31st of March to avail of the discounted Early Bird Rates.  Registration numbers are extremely high and this year’s event promises to be even bigger than before.”

Ciaran continued, “We are delighted that once again this year the Koram Centre in Strabane will also benefit. Pieta House have again approved the Centre as a partner for Strabane DIL in recognition of their ongoing work in this area and we are delighted that the Centre will benefit.”
