Strabane Sigersons confirmed their place in the final of the 2012 Ladies Junior championship after defeating near neighbours Mna Na Deirge in a close and very exciting game at Newtownstewart this evening. Following their one point victory (3-08 to 2-10) they can now look forward to locking horns with Loughmacrory in the final.

This was a real game of two halves as Sigersons dominated the opening thirty minutes but faced a fired up Derg side in the second period as they hauled themselves back into the game and indeed were level at one stage late in the encounter. Sigersons missed several great chances when on top in the first half particularly hitting thirteen wides in total and nearly paid a heavy price for their wastefulness as Mna na Deirge pushed them all the way but just came up short. Strabane led 2-2 to 0-3 at the break with the Derg first half scores coming from county minor star Laura Mc Sorley 0 – 2 & Louise Coyle 0 – 1 while Tori Mc Laughlin and Lorraine Conwell hit the net for the winners.
Mc Sorley once again led from the front in the second half hitting 1-5 as her side produced a superb display to get within one score of winning. Mna na Deirge other scores during that period were Shannon Lynch 0 -1, Louise Coyle 1 – 0 & Francesca Lynch 0 -1. Leona Houston hit a goal early in the second half for the Sigersons but it was her match winning point late in the game that ensured her team made it through to the 2012 Junior championship final.
Final score Strabane 3-08, Mna na Deirge 2-10.
