Clonoe produced a superb second half showing to defeat Errigal Ciaran by six points in the Hunky Dorys Tyrone senior championship semi final. There was little between the sides in an entertaining first half as John Devine helped keep Errigal in the game with a top class penalty save twenty four minutes into the opening half. At that stage the Dunmoyle lads led by a single point but Clonoe finished the half strongly with Paul Coney’s 26th minute goal giving them a lead they maintained right to the end. That score helped the Rahillys reach the break 1-6 to 0-6 in front.
Errigal came out for the second half hoping for a fast start but found their opponents in outstanding form. Coney, Dwayne Quinn and PJ Lavery were all on target as Clonoe out fought and out thought the reigning champions. There was a passion and hunger about Clonoe in the second half that Errigal failed to match and although Peter Harte bagged a late goal there was no doubting who would make it through for a clash with Carrickmore. Final score Clonoe 1-16. Errigal Ciaran 1-10.
