If it was drama, excitement and pure championship football that you were after then Edendork was the place to be on Saturday afternoon as Clonoe and Pomeroy went toe to toe in an absorbing contest that finished 0-13 apiece in the fading light.

Having knocked out holders Killyclogher in the previous round the Plunketts Picked up where they had left off as they completely dominated the first half. Aidan Woods, Frank Burns, Ryan Loughran, Gavin Goodfellow and Jude Campbell all registered as they led 0-9 to 0-4 at the break, Declan McClure with a few frees for the O’Rahillys.

Having scored the last point of the first half Clonoe got four of the opening five of the second period via McClure. PJ Lavery, Danny McNulty and Conor McLaughlin. A superb Brendan Burns point steadied the ship and when John Loughran and Campbell added to Pomeroy’s tally they were four clear with eleven minutes left on the clock.

Pomeroy though failed to score again as that renowned Clonoe fighting spirit once again came to the fore. Dwayne Quinn, Lavery and Colm Doris narrowed the gap before McNulty sent over a brilliant equaliser two minutes into injury time. The replay takes place on Tuesday night at Omagh and if it is half as good as the original encounter it will e well worth seeing.
