Superb Day’s Football At Fintona

Fintona Pearses staged their annual under fourteen tournament on Saturday afternoon with the Saint Lawerence’s Shield and Marron Cup on offer for the winners of the two competitions.
After a series of round robin games and play offs Cookstown Fr Rocks made it through to the final of the Shield where they were joined by Tyrone side Errigal Ciaran .
Both teams played some outstanding football but the Fr Rocks ability to take scores made all the difference and they deservedly claimed the Shield.
Following that came the much anticipated Marron Cup final between Eglish of Tyrone and the highly rated Truagh side from Monaghan.
Many of the neutrals among the spectators were expecting a Monaghan win after they had made their way through to the final playing some superb football. However the men in black were only beginning to find their rhythm and saved their best display for the final as they made it a Tyrone double .
