Tyrone’s hopes of a prolonged run in the under 21 championship came to an abrupt halt this evening at Healy Park when they were out thought, out fought and out played by a very well organised and determined Donegal side. With Patrick Mc Brearty in superb form and Ryan Mc Hugh, Eoin Mc Hugh and Martin O’Reilly dictating the play the home side struggled throughout.
Donegal reached half time leading eight points to 1-3 but really should have been further ahead as Tyrone hit the net against the run of play when Stefan Tierney fisted a Ritchie Donnelly pass to the net. The half time whistle gave Tyrone an opportunity to reorganise but the second half saw more of the same as Donegal once again bossed possession and created the better chances. Tyrone could only muster three points in a very disappointing and disjointed second half and the visitors eased to a 0-15 to 1-6 win and on this form they will take a bit of beating. For Tyrone some serious soul searching required after a very poor display.
