Tattyreagh are into the last four of the Ulster Intermediate championship after a thrilling 3-11 to 2-13 victory over Armagh champions St.Peters Lurgan at the Athletic Grounds on Saturday evening.

Jarleth McDonagh opened the scoring for the Tyrone champions before full forward James Darcy bagged a brilliant individual goal in the 4th minute. Niall McConville then had a point for the Armagh men before Feargal Moore followed that up with a goal.

Johnny Harkin and Gareth Mimnagh registered points for the wind assisted Tatts but back came St.Peters with scores from McConville and Niall Creaney. On the stroke of half time McDonagh got a vital goal for the winners and when Darcy added a point they led 2-8 to 1-6 at the short whistle.

Creaney and Mimnagh exchanged points on the resumption before Shea Geraghty, Moore and McConville all pointed to reduce the deficit to 2-9 to 1-10 at the three quarter mark. Brendan Armstrong got a much needed point for Tattyreagh and Darcy added one from a free.

McConville replied with a St.Peters point before Mimnagh grabbed a crucial third goal for Tattyreagh when he palmed home despite the best efforts of the Lurgan defence to keep it out. A Geraghty free was followed by a “45” from Emmet Haughian as the contest slipped into injury time. Right at the end Geraghty converted a penalty but it proved to be the last kick of the game as Tattyreagh deservedly went through.
