Tattyreagh made it successive championships following their 2-12 to 2-9 victory over Augher in the LCC Intermediate Final. The men in red and black were deserving winners as they again overcame the undergdogs tag to secure the title and with it promotion to Division One.

The winners made the perfect start with a fisted goal from Gareth Mimnagh in the first minute. James Darcy converted a free shortly after to put the Tatts 1-1 to no score in front with barely three minutes on the clock.

However Augher settled to their task and enjoyed their most productive period of the match hitting 2-2 without reply with goals  from Darragh Donnelly and Eoghan Keenan helping Augher into a four point lead.

Tattyreagh recovered well from what looked like a game changing situation to hit the closing four points of the first half from James Darcy (2), Johnny Harkin and Joe Cartin and the teams went in at the break level.

Both sides landed three points apiece during the opening eleven minutes of the half before scores from Raymond Mc Elroy and Glen Mc Kenna moved Augher two points in front.

Tattyreagh showed great heart as they got themselves back in the game with points from Peadar Mullan (2) and Jarlath Mc Donagh. Indeed a driving run from Mullan came within inches of extending the Tatts lead further when Christopher Holland dived low to his right to turn Mullan’s goal bound shot around the post.

With five minutes remaining Tattyreagh hit the net a second time when James Darcy finished a fine team move. That goal put the Tatts 2-11 to 2-7 in front with five minutes on the clock. An historic Intermediate title and promotion to senior football was within touching distance for Stephen Mc Hugh’s team.

Jarlath Mc Donagh fired over another point to extend the lead to five and although Augher managed to hit the final two points of the game Tattyreagh prevailed and the celebrations began.

Final score: Tattyreagh 2-12, Augher 2-09.
