It’s been a quite remarkable three years for Tattyreagh who can now add a third county final in three years to the club history. Back in 2016 they reached the Junior decider but were defeated by Rock in Dungannon. In 2017 they defeated Clogher to lift the crown in Carrickmore and on Sunday afternoon they overcame Gortin to reach the Intermediate decider. They are now just 60 minutes away from possibly competing in senior football in 2019.

They left it late on Sunday but their second half performance fully merited their one point win. Gortin assumed control of the contest early on and led 1-1 to 0-1 after 17 minutes thanks to brilliant Sean Og McAleer goal. The remainder of the half was a much more even contest with both sides hitting 0-3 apiece. The Tattyreagh points coming from Jarleth McDonagh, James Darcy and Eoghain Murray while Brian McGarvey, Peter Keenan and Sean Og McAleer got the points for Gortin. Half Time – Gortin 1-5 Tattyreagh 0-4

Tattyreagh got their tactics right in the second half restricting Gortin to just two points over the 35 minutes football. Points from Collie Harkin, Kevin Gallagher and James Darcy were responded to by Peter Keenan and Sean Og McAleer but the Tatts landed the final four points in the last ten minutes of the contest. Johnny Harkin, Brendan Armstrong and Ciaran Mullan all registered scores before Johnny Harkin popped up in the 65th minute to thump over the winner from 40 metres. Final Score – Tattyreagh 0-11 Gortin 1-7
