Team Talk Mag

We will present the first ever ladies golden boot at the Patrick Fahy and Co Solicitors senior football final this year with the support of The website has been synonymous with coverage of all things gaelic games in the county for several years now and of course the annual all star awards are a massive highlight of the sporting and social calendar.

The inaugural ladies golden boot will initially be awarded to the senior championship player who has top scored in this year’s series with the intention of extending  the awards to include intermediate and junior grades in 2016.

Our senior football finalists, Errigal Ciaran and St Macartan’s have an abundance of quality players who will be in the mix although one is way out in front of the chasing pack. Youngster Shannon Monaghan from the Errigal club has racked up 4-6 in this year’s campaign with 4-3 coming in Errigal’s first outing against Cappagh. Sadly as Errigal had two games to play their opponents have only had one outing as their semi-final against Omagh did not go ahead. An anomaly that no-one would have predicted.

Cathy Donnelly and Joline Donnelly have hit 0-3 apiece for the Macs while Chloe McCaffery scored 1-2. That leaves them with a lot of ground to make up on county final day. Another Errigal player could well threaten Shannon as Maria Canavan sits on 1-7 ahead of the decider. Cailan McCann and Aine Canavan are others knocking on the door too.

As expected Carrickmore’s Gemma Begley was always going to be a contender scoring 0-13 in her two games. The Carmen side racked up 5-23 in their two fixtures. Meanwhile Errigal have amassed 8-25 conceding 1-10 while St Macartans have scored 1-11 to 1-5 against Aodh Ruadh.

One team has found scoring easy this year and has eased to the top of the scoring charts across the board in this year’s ladies championship. they are the surprise packets in the junior championship Edendork who have scored 14-36 in their three games, conceding just 5-19 on the route to the junior final with Trillick. The Reds have also been running up substantial totals themselves with 9-21 scored thus far.

In the Intermediate championship meanwhile Glenelly have scored 8-17 to 4-15 while neighbours Clann na nGael have scored 7-25 conceding 7-10.

So it’s another new award and a boost for the ladies game in the county , a big thank you to
