The eagerly anticipated Lough Wallball Showdown has gone from strength to strength in recent seasons, since first being launched in Loughmacrory in 2014.
Following the launch of the £1.1m development project in the mid-Tyrone club in June 2014, the event has proven extremely popular with over 220 players competing in every event since it began and 250+ players in the past couple of campaigns.
While the numbers of players competing, not to mention the large spectator base at the stunning lakeshore venue, has continued to attract major attention, the quality on show has also been right out of the top drawer.
The Mens and Ladies Open champions to date have included current national champions, Conor McElduff (Tyrone) and Martin McMahon (Limerick) who took the top honours in 2017, while Wally Amaro (Puerto Rico), Martin Mulkerrins (Galway), Catriona Casey (Cork, Lorraine Havern (Down), Miranda Scheffer (Holland) and Killian Carroll (Cork) are just some of the stars to have lit-up the packed arena.
Of course while the packed crowds can enjoy the top open stars in action, the event is also well renowned for the high quality fields across all grades, particularly in the underage ranks. The Club are excited to again note that many of those top junior stars, who are preparing for World championship challenges in August, are already entered and will again make the journey to County Tyrone.
There are also B and Challenger grades available for all the many players who have enjoyed the One Wall Schools initiative and would like to experience competition at a major GAA Handball Tournament.
A Team England Group will also travel for the first time to the Lough Showdown, led by Dan Grant and Luke Thompson, while Limerick’s Paudi Quish has confirmed his attendance at the event for the first time alongside reigning champion, McElduff, and 2016 Nationals Champion, Mulkerrins.
There remains just one week to enter the 5th, and potentially the best, Lough Wallball showdown seen so far and you can enter online on the link below.
With entertainment in the adjoining clubrooms and Il Carro de Pizza in operation at the venue for the Tournament, there will also be some noteworthy additional extras in store. As the heatwave continues, it might well be a case of a wonderful packed weekend of GAA Handball action at a stunning Summer setting.
You can read about all the past events at www.loughmacrory.com and you can enter online here at this link.

You can also enter at any of the two Registration evenings next week at the Lough One Wall Arena on Monday 11th June (7pm-8pm) and Thursday 14th June (7pm-8pm). The final entry deadline is Friday 15th June at 12 midnight.
All players are guaranteed 3 matches at the Tournament weekend with grades from Under 10 right up to Diamond Masters. The drop-down system means that players who lose out in the first two rounds in their grade drop down to contest the next grade, ie. players drop down from Mens open to Mens A, Mens B to Mens C, etc…
Be sure not to miss out! Kick off your Summer at a fantastic Handball extravaganza!
2018 is also a special year for Loughmacrory GAA Handball Club. As the club prepares to celebrate 50 Years since the first official committee was formed, there will also be the release of the new club book entitled ‘150 Years of GAA Handball and Counting’ as well as the next major phase of facilities development. This will see a £350k redevelopment of the Handball and Community Centre and will see a major revamp of the club’s traditional 60×30 court, fifty years on from when it was launched. This new-look centre will be launched in September 2018.
“We look forward to seeing you in Loughmacrory from Friday 29th June to Sunday 1st july 2018! We guarantee you another feast of handball and entertainment”.
