Pomeroy opened the scoring in the 3rd minute as Kieran McGeary landed a two pointer from play. That two pointer was followed up with a second one from McGeary in the 6th minute this time from the dead ball. Trillick responded well with a Lee Brennan free ahead of a Ciaran Daly point from play in the 8th minute. That two point advantage for Pomeroy became five in the 10th minute when Lorcan Kilpatrick followed in on a shot that came off the bar and turned the ball to the net.
A five point lead was soon out to six when Hugh McNamee kicked a point in the 13th minute. Lee Brennan converted his third and fourth frees of the night but those scores were wiped off the board by another excellent two pointer free from Kieran McGeary in the 19th minute. That would prove to be Pomeroy’s last score for nearly 13 minutes as Trillick closed the gap thanks to Ryan Gray and another two Lee Brennan close range frees.
The last two scores of the opening half came from Pomeroy’s Jude Campbell and Trillick’s Lee Brennan with his sixth point of the half. Half Time Score – Pomeroy 1-8 Trillick 0-8.
James Garrity opened the second half scoring for Trillick followed by another Lee Brennan free in the 37th minute and by the 42nd minute they were ahead thanks to a Ciaran Daly two pointer. Pomeroy looked under pressure but they hit the next three points in a row. Ronan Duffin from a free, Kieran McGeary and Frank Burns from play. It looked for a long time that those scores might just see them over the line but Trillick responded with a Liam Gray point from play to leave the stage set for substitute Nathan Farry to hit the net for the Reds in the 57th minute for what would prove to be the winning score.
Pomeroy hit the crossbar in injury time in what was a last gasp chance to cause a huge upset in this years Connolly’s of Moy SFC but Trillick negotiated a frantic end to the game to win by two points.
