Trillick Bounce Back To Win League
Sunday 02.11.2025
Trillick 1-17 0-7 Dungannon
Trillick swept aside the disappointment of missing out on a senior championship seven days ago to comfortably defeat Dungannon in convincing fashion at Carrickmore on Sunday afternoon.
Dungannon who were attempting to make it back to back league titles, could never match the intensity of the Reds and despite opening the scoring through Lorcan Mallon they played second fiddle to Trillick in the opening half.

Trillick with the breeze behind registered the next ten points to go in at the break with a comfortable lead. The winners had eight different scorers in the opening period and could have been out of sight had Seanie O’Donnell and Lee Brennan taken well created goal chances. The half forward line of O’Donnell, Charlie Donnelly and Nathan Farry were impressive and Daley Tunney and Peter McCaughey excellent in defence.

Paul Donaghy kicked an outstanding two point free with the outside of the boot, coupled with a brace of points to make inroads into the deficit early in the second half but a brace of points from Seanie O’Donnell allowed Trillick to regain the ascendancy.

The beginning of the final quarter saw Trillick stretch the lead to eight with Mattie Donnelly and Daire Gallagher on target.
With seven minutes remaining Joe Maguire ensured there would be no comeback when he made a good stop to deny Paudie McNulty and Trillick went up the other end and a super goal which included a classy dummy and finish from James Garrity confirmed victory.
Lee Brennan accepted the league trophy for Trillick whose consistency over the last decade has been outstanding.
