Trillick made it through to the quarter final of the 2015 Donnelly Motors Championship following Saturday evening’s comprehensive win over Dungannon. The Reds gained some revenge for last season’s intermediate championship final defeat to the same opposition when they emerged victorious on a score-line of 3-16 to 1-9. Reds’ forward Lee Brennan was the star of the show with a personal tally of 1-10 but this was no one man show as Trillick produced the most impressive team display of the weekend.

The game began at lightning pace with both sides exchanging early scores. Dungannon goalkeeper Daire Martin made a superb stop from Niall Gormley inside the opening minutes to prevent a certain goal but with Brennan and Mattie Donnelly in fine form Trillick raced into a 0-3 to 0-1 lead. The Clarkes levelled the match with scores from Matthew Walsh and Patrick Quinn before another free from Walsh edged Dungannon ahead for the first time.

Trillick responded well to this scoring three on the bounce to move two clear as the pace of the game remained relentless. With half time approaching they hit the net for the first time through Daniel Mc Donnell to put six points between the sides. When referee Fergal Ward, who had a super game, sounded the half time whistle Trillick led 1-9 to 0-6.

The second half saw the level of intensity remain high and Dungannon came close to finding the net following a marauding run by Paidi Mc Nulty. Minutes later Patrick Quinn found the net to reduce the gap to three points. However that was as good as it got for the Clarkes as Brennan and Donnelly combined for the score of the evening which saw the diminutive Brennan dazzle the Dungannon defence before hitting his side’s second goal of the night.

Lee Brennan went on to finish the game with 1-10 on a night when his brother Ruairi scored his team’s third and final goal of the game.  Trillick produced the most complete display of the weekend thus far and will go into the quarter finals in confident mood.
