Tyrone, striving for a first win at the third attempt, lead by 1-6 to 0-5 at half time against Sligo in an incident packed national football league division two encounter.

The Red Hands showed four changes to the side named on Thursday night with Damian McCaul, PJ Quinn, Colm Cavanagh and Owen Mulligan starting in place of Cathal McCarron, Dermot Carlin, Niall McKenna and Stephen O’Neill respectively.

Owen Mulligan and Martin Penrose exchanged points with Mark Breheny and Adrian Marren in the early stages before Enda McGinley thumped the ball to the net in the 10th minute after the home keeper had dropped a Brian McGuigan effort.

In the 17th minute Tyrone were dealt a double blow when Conor Gormley was sent off for a second yellow card offence and McGinley had to go off injured, with Niall McKenna joining the action.

Marren had a couple of Sligo points but Tyrone responded through Sean Cavanagh, Penrose and McKenna as the hosts ended the half with fourteen men as well after Breheny was dismissed on a second yellow card.
