What a day at the Tyrone County Féile hosted by Fr. Shields, Greencastle GAC (An Caisleán Glas).

It was an early start on Sunday morning as players registered at 9am and the day got off to a blistering start on two pitches as seven teams battled it out with first throw-in at 9:30am. With fantastic weather, the teams were on top form in the early rounds of the competition, with narrow wins and tight score lines all round.

In true Féile spirit, Eire Óg joined the competition seeking a challenge with ten players, and played very successfully despite their numbers. Omagh, Naomh Padraig (Doiretreasc & Brocagh), Dungannon and Fr. Shields competed in highly contested matches throughout the day, and when it came to the play-off for the Féile Shield, it boiled down to a count back between these four clubs to see who would progress to the final.

In the end, Dungannon and Omagh went head-to-head for the shield; a narrow scoreline resulted with Dungannon eventually coming out on top. Dungannon will now advance to the Ulster Regional Blitz, in which they will represent Tyrone.

At the end of the day, fantastic skill and determination were on display as Edendork and Eglish battled it out for the Féile Cup. Eglish played a superbly but narrowly missed out on the Cup to Edendork who won every match on the day. Both teams will now go forward to the National Féile later in the year to represent Tyrone. Player of the tournament went to Rachel Devine of Fr. Shields who had a great day on her home pitch; a very well deserved award.

Many thanks to all players, management, referees, volunteers for a great day, and of course to Fr. Shields for their facilities and refreshments for the attendees after the matches. Best of luck to the teams and management in all furthergames, from all at Tyrone Camogie.
