Tyrone Celebrate All-Ireland Successes at Croke Park
Tyrone Handball enjoyed a memorable day at the National Handball Centre in Croke Park as the county celebrated All-Ireland success along with several impressive performances on the national stage.
Leading the celebrations was Kayleigh McCoole (Breacach) who produced a superb display to capture the Girls’ U17 All-Ireland Singles title. McCoole was in excellent form throughout the final, securing victory with a 21–17, 21–4 win to claim the national crown and bring great pride to her club and county.
There was further success for Tyrone in the Boys’ U14 Doubles, where Dara Conway and Ronan McCrystal (Loughmacrory) delivered a fantastic performance to lift the All-Ireland title. The Tyrone pair were pushed all the way in a thrilling contest that went to a dramatic tie-break decider, with the Loughmacrory duo showing great composure to come through and secure the victory.
Tyrone also had strong representation in other finals on the day. Emma Conway (Greencastle) reached the Girls’ U16 Singles Final after winning her semi-final convincingly to book her place in the decider. Conway produced a determined display in the final and pushed her opponent Ciara O’Reilly all the way to a tie-break before eventually finishing as runner-up after a hard-fought battle.
In the Girls’ U16 Doubles Final, Aimee Fox and Grace Teague (Greencastle) also gave an excellent account of themselves before finishing All-Ireland runners-up against a strong Wexford pairing.
Commiserations also go to the other Tyrone competitors who performed admirably but bowed out at the semi-final stage, all contributing to a fantastic showing for the county on the national stage.
Having so many Tyrone players competing at the latter stages of the All-Ireland series highlights the strength and depth of juvenile handball within the county.
The performances across the weekend were a testament to the dedication of the players, coaches, clubs and families who continue to support and develop the sport throughout Tyrone.
With three All-Ireland gold medals and several finalists competing on the biggest stage, the future of Tyrone handball looks extremely bright.
