For the second time in their National League campaign this season Tyrone secured a draw on their travels when it finished 0-20 to 2-14 at Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday afternoon. Full forward Kyle Coney gave a master class in the art of score taking finishing with nine points to his name with all but one of them coming from play.

The Red Hands raced into an early three point lead courtesy of well taken scores from Coney, Harte and Darren McCurry but that good early work was cancelled out in the fifth minute when Paul Kerrigan’s shot was deflected into his own net by defender Ryan McKenna. Tyrone though lifted their game with Coney hitting half a dozen points in the opening period as the visitors led 0-12 to 1-5 at the break.

Cork hit back in the second half with points from Brian Hurley, Hayes and substitute Colm O’Neill with the latter also finding the net for a 2-10 to 0-13 lead. Both sides exchanged points and with less than five minutes to go the hosts were looking good as they still led by three. Tyrone though refused to throw in the towel and they earned a share of the spoils thanks to efforts from Sean Cavanagh, Coney and substitute Ronan O’Neill. Cork almost claimed victory with the last attack of the game but midfielder Fintan Goold’s effort coming back of the left hand post.
