Tyrone travelled to picturesque Belcoo on Saturday afternoon for the latest fixture in the Ulster Minor Championship. Gerry Donnelly’s young team enjoyed a comfortable 2-12 to 0-4 win but they will be concerned about their profligacy in front of goal particularly in the second half when several clear cut chances were spurned.

The Red Hands enjoyed the perfect start with a Shea Mc Dermott goal and a brace of points from the same player as Tyrone dominated early possession. Tyrone were far the better side and added further first half points through Jamie Concannon, Sean Corry, Mc Dermott, Mc Geary and Lorcan Mc Murray. Fermanagh’s response was a point apiece from Daire Chapman and Dan O’Connor.

Half time score: Tyrone 1-9, Fermanagh 0-2

The second half saw Tyrone create numerous chances but fail to capitalise on the space and time they were afforded. Fermanagh seemed content to sit deep and prevent the concession of further goals rather than create much in terms of attack themselves.

Darren Mc Anespie converted a fine mark before Jamie Concannon struck for his side’s second goal with thirty nine minutes on the clock. Both sides added two additional points apiece as the game ended in a 2-12 to 0-4 win for the visitors who will now look forward to their clash with a very talented Monaghan side.
