This weekend saw the exits of Fermanagh, Armagh and Derry from the qualifiers and now the focus has turned to the second round where some big hitters enter the fray. Recent All Ireland champions Kerry and Tyrone were both in the hat and there was considerable interest just who they would get. Antrim got Galway first, Leitrim got Wicklow, Westmeath drew Kerry, Roscommon no surprise got Tyrone at home which is a repeat of last year’s qualifier when they met in Croke Park. Longford drew Limerick, Cavan will face Kildare Seanie Johnston and all, Laois are at home to Monaghan and finally Tipperary will have home advantage over Wexford.
Roscommon will be a difficult challenge for Tyrone and their game is scheduled to take place on the 14th of July. The “Rossies” will be boosted by their win over Armagh at the weekend and will go into this game in confident and determined mood. It is as difficult a draw as Tyrone could have faced and it will be a tough ask on the back of Saturday’s defeat to Donegal.
