Tyrone Interest In Donegal Junior final
Thursday 13.10.2011

While there has been much made of the fact that there is a high proportion of Derry men managing clubs in Tyrone, there are several from the Red Hand county plying their trade elsewhere.Former Glenelly manager Sean Mc Connell is currently looking after the interests of Lifford Naomh Padraig GAC, a club once managed by namesake and ex Tyrone goalkeeper Finbarr Mc Connell. The Omagh based civil servant has a date with destiny this Sunday when his side take on Burt in the final of the Donegal Junior championship. Mc Connell’s side have already beaten former high flyers Downings in the semi final of the competition and although the seasiders and Burt both play their football in a higher division than Lifford, big Sean is confident his team is capable of winning this one.
Another Tyrone connection in the final is former Tyrone underage star Kevin Lynch who not all that long ago was playing football with Aghyaran but who will be togging out for the Naomh Padraig side as they bid to lift the junior title at O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny this Sunday afternoon. Good luck to both men and let’s hope, barring a draw there will be two very happy Tyrone men in Donegal on Sunday evening.
