Tyrone into minor ladies final
Saturday 21.07.2012
There was some joy for Tyrone gaels earlier today when the minor ladies team qualified for the All-Ireland final with a thrilling extra time victory over Mayo in Ballinamore.
In a match which was close and exciting all the way through, the Red Hand girls held sway at the halfway stage in normal time, with Laura McSorley’s goal giving her side a 1-5 to 0-6 advantage.
As the match continued to ebb and flow, Mayo sneaked into the lead approaching the end of normal time before Laura McSorley showed her quality again with a vital equaliser which sent the contest into extra time.
The match was balancing on a knife edge throughout extra time but the Tyrone girls dug deep and clinched an All-Ireland final date with Cork or Dublin as they finally prevailed on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-12.
Congratulations to the Tyrone players and management on a wonderful victory…
