Holders Tyrone are through to another McKenna Cup semi final after securing a comprehensive win over Donegal U21s at Healy Park on Wednesday night.

The Red Hands went into the game knowing that they required a big victory in order to secure best runners up spot but in the end it didn’t matter as Cavan slipped up at home to UUJ which meant that Tyrone won the group.

A Ronan McHugh goal coupled with points from Cahir McCullagh, Johnny Monroe, Darren McCurry, Niall McKenna and Peter Harte meant that the hosts were virtually out of sight by half time leading 1-12 to 0-3, midfielder Michael Langan with a brace for Donegal.

It was more of the same in the second half with McCurry taking his personal haul to 0-6 in a man of the match display with Harte and Ronan O’Neill both finishing with 0-5 apiece. In the closing stages full forward McCullagh punched in a goal as it finished 2-23 to 0-6. Tyrone now play Fermanagh in the last four this Sunday afternoon in Clones.
