Tyrone 1-14 Meath 0-10

Tyrone are through to the inaugural All Ireland U17 football final after they produced an impressive display to beat Meath at Kingspan Breffni Park on Wednesday  night.

The young Red Hands were worthy winners on the night and indeed the margin could have been greater had they not kicked eleven wides as well as missing at least three good goal chances.

Ethan Jordan palmed in the only goal of the game in the 11th minute and that enabled the winners to lead 1-6 to 0-5 at half time. Darragh Canavan, Joe Oguz and Thomas Hoy were among the points against opponents who failed to register in the opening quarter.

As the interval approached though the Leinster champions came more into the game and points from Jordan Norris, Shane Walsh and Aaron Lynch kept them very much in contention.

In the third quarter a fine score from Walsh and a mammoth 60m free from Liam Byrne saw Meath close the gap to two but that was as good as it got for them. Canavan weighed in with a brace of points with substitute Ryan McCabe adding a couple while Cormac Donnelly was also on target as Tyrone eased through.
