Tyrone Ladies Face Tough Battle

Tyrone ladies continue their national league campaign with an away trip to Laois this Sunday well aware that a win will all but assure them of top flight football next term. Despite a loss to Ulster champions Monaghan on Sunday Tyrone turned in a hardworking performance and continue to gel as a unit. Once again Gemma Begley led the attack against the Farney side backed up with impressive displays from Cathy Donnelly and Christiane Hunter. At the back Laura McGillion made a welcome return while Tori McLaughlin and Neamh Woods have been steady throughout the games so far.
The last thing Brian McGee wants is to be relegated but he is well aware that with difficult games to come Sunday could offer his charges the best opportunity to secure priceless points in this dogged relegation battle. Donegal look doomed now as they currently sit without a point while Sunday’s opponents have recorded only one victory and in their last outing were eclipsed by a rampant Mayo who ran riot scoring five goals.
The Tyrone management were full of praise for their charges especially with their second half performance and that will give Tyrone confidence before heading South. A win could take Tyrone clear of their nearest rivals ahead of big games against Cork and Dublin to come.
Team wise there are one or two injury concerns for McGee and Paudge Quinn to contend with, Sarah Louise McLaughlin suffered a knee strain against Monaghan and colleges football also leaves things difficult but it’s unlikely there will be much in the way of changes to the line up for the trip to Laois.
